Chuck Todd is a somewhat polarizing political figure, often taking shots from both conservative and liberal political commentators for his questions to political powerbrokers. Monday, Todd took a shot from podcaster Keith Olbermann for a question he raised during a recent episode of Meet The Press.
Olbermann called Todd “the 12th and final moderator of Meet The Press at this rate”, taking a shot at the host for the shows lacking ratings compared to those of previous hosts, before saying Todd will never understand the political scene in Washington.
“Discussing the possibility of criminal referrals by the January 6th Committee with ex-prosecutor Preet Bharara, Chuck asked ‘But doesn’t it add negatively to the political stew?’,” Olbermann said. “Just when you thought Chuck had run out of euphemisms for ‘I have to say something to let the Republicans off some hook somewhere or they’ll get me fired tomorrow morning’.”
The former cable news host then added another shot at Todd for his lack of awareness.
“I’ve known Chuck Todd for 18 years now, and he will never understand that he will never understand the ‘political stew’ is merely the package that America comes in, not the contents.”
Earlier this year, Olbermann slammed NBC News for its retention of Todd after reports claimed the network was prepared to replace him with White House correspondent Kristen Welker. He claimed the network would replace Todd if someone could get Cesar Conde’s — chairman of NBC News — attention while he “spends most of his time trying to get a corporate executive position somewhere”.
