Ben Shapiro: ‘Kind of Absurd’ How Networks Covered Donald Trump’s Plane on Runway

Date:

Yesterday, former President Donald Trump flew from Florida to New York in preparation for his arraignment on 34 felonies in the Empire State. News organizations featured extensive coverage of the travel, which The Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro balked at.

During The Ben Shapiro Show Tuesday, the host claimed that the media was obviously going to cover the developments, but didn’t know that it would look like this. “The media are going whole hog wall to wall on the coverage,” Shapiro said.

He then noted that Trump has always been the subject of more media attention due to his “incredible story”. Shapiro pointed out that anyone who had appeared on the cover of Playboy before ascending to the office of the presidency was destined to receive differing media coverage.

Shapiro then turned his attention to the coverage yesterday, before noting that it was slightly overblown in his eyes.

“I mean, if this were a novel, you would not actually believe this was happening. Because, again, this would be a bad novel, but it is in fact a reality. So there’s a reason why the media are covering this stuff. You can’t exactly blame them,” Shapiro admitted. “Although, I will say that watching all four networks simultaneously covering Donald Trump’s plane on the on the runway, it was kind of absurd.”
