HBO Max To Rebrand as Max, Add More Live Sports

Warner Bros. Discovery have revealed its all-in-one streaming service encompassing all of the company’s available offerings. HBO Max will rebrand as simply Max. It will feature the programming currently available on both HBO Max and Discovery+. There are plans for more live sports to make their way onto the platform in the future.

Company CEO David Zaslav said in a virtual announcement of Max on Wednesday that more information on live sports will be available in the coming months.

“We’re a global leader in sports. And we’re a global leader in news,” Zaslav said. “And in a few months, we’ll come back to you with details of our attack plan to use this important and differentiating live content to grow our streaming business even futher.”

Max will likely feature TBS and TNT coverage and content from the NHL, NBA and MLB in addition to the growing lineup of sports offerings from U.S. Soccer, cycling, boxing, swimming, figure skating and wrestling.

Max launches May 23.
