It’s been almost a month since Shannon Sharpe left Undisputed on FS1, leaving host Skip Bayless without a debate partner.
It appears now that the network’s inability presently to land a suitable replacement is the reason why the show will not return until August 28.
Bayless announced Wednesday on Twitter that the program will be on hiatus another two months.
Front Office Sports reported Thursday that sources familiar with the situation at FS1 say there isn’t a ton of interest in the role opposite Bayless. Bayless has final say on the hire, so that has presented challenges in figuring out a path forward.
Sharpe is yet to reveal a new landing spot, and ESPN recently laid off several longtime on-air personalities, leaving the show with options.
“Shannon’s exit moved way faster than they expected,” one source was quoted by FOS. “So they had no choice but to go on hiatus. Skip has never done anything like this during all his years at FS1 or ESPN. Not being on the air during all these NBA moves is killing him.”
