Memphis is a passionate sports city, and it appears the market is passionate about 92.9 ESPN, as well. The station was well represented in the latest summer ratings book in the Men 25-54 demographic, scoring several double-digit ratings finishes.
92.9 ESPN runs the national ESPN Radio morning show, so the local programs on the station get started with The Geoff Calkins Show, which airs from 9a-11a. The show grabbed a 13.0 share, good for the top spot in the market. The performance of Calkins’ show was down slightly from the 16.9 share it saw in the spring.
Jason Smith and John Martin handle the 1p-3p timeslot, and finished 5th this book with a 9.4 share, down from the 16 share it scored in the previous ratings book.
In afternoons, the station also features two shows. Giannotto and Jeffrey –featuring Mark Giannotto and Jeffrey Wright — delivered a 9.8 share, good for 4th in the market. That number was down from the 15 share it produced in the spring, which led the market.
Meanwhile, The Gabe Kuhn Show, which launched earlier this year, earned a 13.2 share, taking the top spot in the ratings from 4p-6p. The Kuhn-led program was the top-performing show on the station despite being down slightly from the 14.0 share it featured the previous quarter.
The station finished 3rd in weekday prime (M-F 6a-7p) with a 10.0 share. That represents a dip from the 13.7 share it earned in the spring. It also finished 4th for the full week (M-SU 6a-Mid) with an 8.6 share, down from a 10.7 the prior quarter.
