The Cleveland Browns pulled off a thrilling upset over the San Francisco 49ers Sunday afternoon thanks to Jake Moody’s missed 41-yard field goal attempt in the closing seconds. 850 ESPN Cleveland host Tony Rizzo showcased the range of emotions Browns fans felt in a video posted to the station’s Facebook page Sunday evening.
The video, which had 45,000 views as of Monday night, starts off with the co-host of The Really Big Show praising the Browns for being adequately prepared for an unbeaten Niners team coming off a blowout win over the Dallas Cowboys the week before.
Tony Rizzo then started rooting for Moody to miss the kick that would’ve moved San Francisco to 6-0.
“Miss it you dog!” Rizzo said. “Best team in the NFL, they had to fight tooth and nail with a backup quarterback!”
The Browns call timeout to ice the kicker, and during the pause Rizzo continued to express optimism for where the team was at this point in the season.
“Couldn’t ask for more, 2-3 after five if he makes it,” he said. “But I’m not worried.”
Eventually Moody attempts the field goal and the kick misses wide right. Rizzo starts jumping up and down in excitement. He says it was apropos that a missed kick at the gun determined the outcome with former Browns leg Phil Dawson in attendance.
“Karma, baby! Karma, baby!” Rizz said referencing the dust-up between the two teams during pre-game warm-ups. “Cleveland’s stadium, Phil Dawson was there, and the Browns won on a missed field goal. You can’t make it up.”
