ESPN has signed reporter and senior NHL writer Greg Wyshynski to a new, multi-year contract, the network announced on Tuesday.
With ESPN, Wyshynski regularly writes news stories and a weekly column during the hockey season, providing his insights and expertise to hockey fans around the world. Moreover, he appears on several daily programs, including SportsCenter, The Point, and ESPN BET Live, contributing to the conversation surrounding the game of hockey.
Wyshynski preceded his time with ESPN at Yahoo Sports where he was the creator and editor-in-chief of the Puck Daddy blog on Yahoo Sports. Throughout his nine years with the company, he became the first blogger ever to be named on the “100 People of Power Influence” list by The Hockey News.
In addition to his aforementioned roles with ESPN, he hosts The Drop Podcast with NHL on ESPN and SportsCenter host Arda Öcal.
Öcal himself has also received a new, multi-year contract from ESPN, retaining the versatile television host across its sports coverage. Before joining the network, he worked as a play-by-play announcer, host, and reporter for the Brampton Battalion of the Ontario Hockey League.
Additionally, he reported on coverage of the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League on Rogers TV before transitioning to MSG Networks, where he was frequently utilized for in-studio assignments and on game broadcasts for the New Jersey Devils.
In the summer of 2016, Öcal began performing freelance work for ESPN and was brought on as a SportsCenter and NHL on ESPN host in the summer of 2019. Aside from those properties, he has also contributed to coverage of the NBA, MLB, UFC, MLS, and the PGA Tour among others.
Earlier experiences working for the WWE, theScore, and Weather Network helped foster his ability to adapt and apply his vast skill set in different ways. He is also a former hockey player and holds a degree in mathematics from the University of Waterloo.
