98.5 The Sports Hub’s Fred Toucher spent time on Toucher and Hardy this morning discussing the future of former Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and former quarterback Tom Brady. After saying Belichick coaching a team next season would compare to Emmit Smith playing at the end of his career for the Cardinals or Joe Namath finishing with the Rams, Toucher said, “He’d be better just walking off in to the sunset now, doing broadcasting, sticking around the game.”
Toucher was then asked, “Do you think (Belichick) would be good at broadcasting?” He was quick to reply, “No, I think he would be absolutely terrible, but someone would pay him.”
The conversation about broadcasting continued, but this time about Brady, who signed a 10 year, $375 million with FOX to be a part of their NFL coverage beginning next season.
“Tom Brady is going to be atrocious at broadcasting…but he’ll make more money in a year than I’ll see in my entire lifetime, including any money I make on investments,” Toucher said.
It has been reported that Brady has been reaching out to broadcasters to get advice on his new career. One of those people he reached out to was 98.5 The Sports Hub midday host Scott Zolak, a former NFL quarterback who is now part of the Zolak & Bertrand show.
Before moving on, Toucher responded to a caller trying to defend Brady, by pointing to Brady’s podcast with Jim Gray, Let’s Go!, and saying it is “an abomination and when I tell you its bad, its so bad that its not even worth poking fun at…It’s just awful.”
