Keith Olbermann, Clay Travis Differ on Claims ESPN ‘Scripted’ Sage Steele Interview with President Biden

Date:

On Tuesday, former ESPN host Sage Steele told Fox News Digital that a 2021 interview with President Joe Biden was “scripted” by the network. Keith Olbermann and Clay Travis had opposite reactions to that story.

“I was told, ‘You will say every word that we write out, you will not deviate from the script and go,’” Steele claimed. “To the word. Like, every single question was scripted, gone over dozens of times by many editors and executives. Absolutely. I was on script and was told not to deviate. It was very much, ‘This is what you will ask. This is how you will say it. No follow-ups, no follow-ups. Next.’”

In response, Olbermann had harsh criticism for his former colleague.

“Of COURSE it was scripted,” he wrote in a post to X. “If it hadn’t have been (Sage Steele) — the dumbest person I’ve ever worked with in sports or news — couldn’t have gotten through it.”

Travis responded to Keith Olbermann on the social media platform by making a quip about the state of his mental health.

“Keith, legit question, how many meds are you on? Maybe tell the doc to dial back some,” Travis wrote. “Because every week you get more insane. (And also more racist and sexist.)”

During his OutKick The Show, Clay Travis questioned whether or not something more nefarious was at play.

“This is a big story,” Travis said. “I like Sage, and I appreciate her telling this story. What everyone…should be asking is not only if ESPN scripted all the questions for Sage Steele’s interview, but did they provide those questions to Joe Biden in advance?”
