RJ Choppy and Bobby Belt from 105.3 The Fan in Dallas spent time on the Shan & RJ Show talking about Colin Cowherd and a recent take he had on his FOX Sports Radio show The Herd with Colin Cowherd. The take had to do with ESPN basketball analyst JJ Redick and an episode of his new podcast with Lebron James, Mind the Game with LeBron James and JJ Redick.
It wasn’t anything Redick or James said, it was that Redick wore a backwards hat during the recording.
Choppy explains, “First, this is America’s favorite idiot, Colin Cowherd…JJ Redick has been an analyst, a player, he has a podcast, had a great sit down with LeBron…So, Colin is known for a couple of things, one is being wrong…I don’t believe in wrong opinions it’s his take, I just think his take is stupid.
“He has long had this take that he doesn’t want any quarterback to wear a backwards hat, ‘you’ll never be a famous quarterback’…Colin saw JJ Redick wear the backwards hat, and JJ’s name has been thrown around for head coaching opportunities and of course, Colin is at it again with the backwards hat stuff.”
Choppy plays the clip of Cowherd who said in part, “Don’t love the backward hat for JJ Redick…JJ Redick’s going for NBA head coaching jobs and looks like someone who is moving my couch.”
While acknowledging there are certain positions where one should not wear a backwards hat, such as President, Choppy said, “It’s just such a tired take, man.”
Belt asked, “Do you think Colin believes his take or do you think he has just turned this into such a bit at this point?” “I think it’s a bit at this point,” Choppy replied.
“I think he may have meant it at first and then just saw the reaction,” Belt said.
Choppy summarized, “I just think it’s tired. I think it’s a tired take and I’m kind of over it.”
