Michael Carter-Williams Joins ESPN, Appearing on ACC Network Basketball Studio Programming and Live Game Broadcasts

"Michael adds instant credibility to our already deep and talented lineup of ACCN men’s hoops studio analysts."

Date:

Michael Carter-Williams, former guard at Syracuse University and nine-year NBA veteran, is joining ESPN as a men’s college basketball studio and game analyst. Carter-Williams will be appearing on the ACC Network basketball program, Nothing But Net, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the ACC men’s basketball season. Moreover, he will also call games across ESPN platforms, making his debut on the live game broadcast on Saturday, Jan. 25 when Clemson faces Virginia Tech at 5 p.m. EST on ACC Network.

Carter-Williams played under former Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim for two seasons at Syracuse, and he will now be his colleague at ESPN. In 2014, he served as a key contributor to help the team qualify for the Final Four for the fifth time in school history and was an honorable mention All-American by the Associated Press. Carter-Williams proceeded to be selected 11th overall by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2013 NBA Draft and was named NBA Rookie of the Year in the ensuing season. This past October, Carter-Williams announced his retirement from the NBA, spending nine years in the league with the 76ers, Milwaukee Bucks, Chicago Bulls, Charlotte Hornets, Houston Rockets and Orlando Magic.

“Michael adds instant credibility to our already deep and talented lineup of ACCN men’s hoops studio analysts,” Alex Farmartino, vice president of production for ACC Network, said in a statement. “He is a Syracuse legend after what he accomplished under Coach Boeheim, and we’re excited for him to start his media career with us at ACCN.”

Carter-Williams made his debut on the ACC Network Tuesday on ACC PM, and he will be back on the show at 6 p.m. EST on Wednesday with host Taylor Tannebaum. Furthermore, he will be on the air at halftime for Florida State-Miami and Virginia Tech-Stanford before concluding the day with the Nothing But Net program.

“My time playing at Syracuse are a few of the best years of my life, and I’m thrilled to return to college ball in this capacity,” Carter-Williams said in a statement. “The ACC is synonymous with basketball greatness, and I’m excited to dive right in with my new teammates at ESPN and ACC Network.”
