There is a new leader atop the podcast rankings from Podtrac, as NPR News Now has surpassed The Daily. Elsewhere, Vince Coglianese got off to a strong start as he succeeded Dan Bongino in his popular podcast.
The program from NPR jumped past the New York Times show to earn the top spot. NPR News Now wasn’t the only podcast from the public radio outlet on the podium, however. Up First from NPR remained steady during the U.S. Unique Monthly Audience rankings for March 2025. That show finished in third place.
Dateline NBC finished fourth. Meanwhile, Fox News Hourly Update jumped two positions to earn fifth place.
Many in the podcast industry were watching the rankings closely after the departure of Dan Bongino, who exited to serve as the Deputy Director of the FBI. His replacement, Vince Coglianese, got off to a good start in his first month of hosting the show. VINCE, the new podcast from Silverloch Media — founded by Bongino’s wife, Paula, to divorce himself from his media endeavors — ended its first month seventh in the rankings.
Other news-focused shows in the top 20 included the Shawn Ryan Show (8th), Today, Explained (11th), The Ben Shapiro Show (13th), The Ezra Kline Show (15th), 48 Hours (16th), and 20/20 (18th).
In the Top U.S. Podcast Publishers & Networks rankings from Podtrac, iHeartMedia reigned supreme again, as the iHeartAudience Network and iHeartPodcasts earned the top two spots, respectively.
NPR Sales Network was third, while Acast and Libsyn rounded out the top five.
