Wright has served as an elected official in multiple capacities — most notably as a member of the Burlington City Council and in the Vermont House of Representatives.

“Kurt brought the same thoughtfulness and dedication to his radio career that characterized his years in public service,” said WVMT Program Director Kwame Dankwa. “His ability to discuss complex issues fairly while maintaining the warmth and accessibility that defines local radio has set a standard for broadcasting excellence in our community.”

Kurt Wright joined the station in 2019 after Vox AM FM Digital purchased the station.

“Kurt’s voice has become part of the morning routine for so many Vermonters,” said Vox AM FM Digital Chief Operating Officer Ken Barlow. “While we will miss his presence behind the microphone, his impact on Vermont broadcasting and our community will endure.”

WVMT plans to announce the future plans for The Morning Drive — which currently airs from 6-9 AM — in the following weeks.
