The Bet KC, an Audacy radio station, has been named the flagship radio home for live game broadcasts of the Kansas City Monarchs within the American Association of Professional Baseball. Under the terms of the partnership, the station will air all away games for the team beginning on Friday, May 16 as the team faces the division-rival Sioux City Explorers. The new arrangement occurs after 40 games had aired across Union Broadcasting’s Sports Radio 810 WHB and ESPN Kansas City 1510 AM/94.5 FM last year.
“The Monarchs’ return to the 1660 AM frequency solidifies Audacy as the destination fans come to for everything Kansas City sports,” Roxanne Marati, senior vice president and market manager of Audacy Kansas City, said in a statement. “We’re excited for this new partnership, to collaborate with the team and provide fans exclusive coverage with the four-time league champions only on The Bet KC.”
Carter Woodiel has been tabbed to return as the voice of Monarchs baseball for a third season as he approaches his 500th game in the AAPB this May. Furthermore, the Monarchs roster includes three former members of the Kansas City Royals in hitting coach Christian Colón, outfielder Jorge Bonifacio and pitcher Jake Brentz. In addition, the field manager for the Monarchs is Joe Calfapietra, who has won three Miles Wolff Cup championships in Kansas City and is a two-time American Association manager of the year.
“Baseball and the radio just go together, and we’re thrilled to bring the full slate of Monarchs road games to 1660 The Bet for the upcoming season,” Mark Brandmeyer, owner of the Kansas City Monarchs, said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to partner with Audacy and are excited to showcase our team on their platforms all season long.”
