Boston Celtics legend and current FS1 host Paul Pierce was adamant on Speak Wednesday that his former club would beat the New York Knicks in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
His former team did not reward his confidence, and now he’s paying the price.
Pierce told his FS1 co-hosts that he was so confident that the Boston Celtics would defeat the Knicks during Wednesday’s matchup that he was prepared to make a wild declaration.
“If the Celtics lose game two, I promise you I’m walking here tomorrow,” Pierce said confidently on Wednesday’s episode. “I’m walking here. 15 miles. I’m walking here in my robe, no shoes on, bare feet, if the Celtics lose tonight. You gotta better chance at walking out of this studio and seeing a dinosaur than the Celtics losing.”
For the second consecutive game, however, the Celtics vanquished a 20-point lead, falling 91-90 against the Knicks, falling to a 2-0 deficit in the series.
In a video published to Instagram on Thursday morning, Pierce said he “better get to stepping” as he began his journey to the FS1 studios at roughly 6 AM PT.
“I’m a man of my word,” Pierce said. “Welcome to this journey. Here I go.”
In subsequent videos, he shared that he “couldn’t believe the Celtics got me walking like this” and that he had a “long walk ahead” of him.
Paul Pierce shared that he would publish updates near the top of the hour for each hour that he was walking toward the studio.
On X, Pierce published a screenshot of Google Maps suggesting it would take him just over eight hours to make the journey from his home to the FS1 studios.
By that projection, Pierce would make it to the studio just in time for him to appear on Speak alongside Joy Taylor and Keyshawn Johnson.
