Former At the Movies host Richard Roeper is set to join Bob Sirott on his WGN Radio morning show for a weekly appearance beginning this week.
Beginning on Thursday, May 15th, Roeper will join the show at 7:20 AM for a weekly appearance. The former film critic will share his commentary on local headlines, happenings, and culture.
“I’m thrilled to be joining my friend Bob Sirott every week so we can exchange views about whatever Chicagoans are talking about—from the pope to the Cubs and Sox to pop culture and politics,” said Roeper. “Bob was instrumental in launching my TV career back in the day, and I look forward to this new collaboration.”
“Rich will add a much-needed voice to my North Side perspective,” Sirott added.
Roeper spent almost four decades with the Chicago Sun-Times as a film critic. He also earned several national awards for his work across a wide array of media endeavors.
The move marks a reunion for Bob Sirott and Richard Roeper. The two previously worked together at Fox 32 in the Windy City in an on-air capacity. Their work together earned an Emmy Award in 1998.
In addition to his new weekly radio appearance with WGN Radio, Roeper also hosts a podcast and has authored a plethora of books on the film and pop culture genres. Richard Roeper joined At the Movies — commonly referred to as Siskel & Ebert — in 2000, replacing the longstanding host Gene Siskel after his 1999 death. Roeper helmed the show alongside Roger Ebert until 2008.
