After Jon Grayson announced his retirement, KMBZ has announced that Jonathan Wier will rejoin the station pair with Jayme Monacelli in middays.
Wier previously hosted nights on the Audacy Kansas City news/talk station from 2012 to 2019. He had most recently worked at Country 102.5 in Boston as its morning host. However, he was one of several personalities slashed by Beasley Media Group in a round of layoffs last August.
Wier is no stranger to the news/talk format. In addition to his work on KMBZ, he previously worked at Audacy sister stations 97.1 FM Talk in St. Louis, as well as 97.3 FM The Sky in Gainesville/Ocala.
In a statement published on the station’s website, KMBZ revealed that Wier will begin his duties today, pairing with Monacelli from the 10 AM-2 PM timeslot she previously occupied with Grayson.
Grayson announced his exit earlier this month. He shared that he and his wife were moving out of the country “to protect our safety and sanity” which made helming middays at the station “no longer feasible.”
Jon Grayson had been paired with Monacelli since joining the station 2019. His previous stops included KMOX in St. Louis as host of Overnight America, as well as 550 KTRS in St. Louis. He also worked at WFLA in Tampa and SuperTalk 99.7 WTN in Nashville.
