The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) continues to award regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, and KMOX in St. Louis was a big winner.
In the Radio | Large Market category for Region 5, KMOX won four honors. The Audacy St. Louis news/talk station won awards for Breaking News Coverage, Excellence in Sound, and Excellence in Writing. It also won the prestigious Overall Excellence award for the region.
The wins for KMOX come on the heels of the news that the station would add an FM simulcast a 104.1 in the market. The station completed that move in March of this year.
Public radio stations won every other category in the large market sector. KCUR 89.3 in Kansas City won four awards, while St. Louis Public Radio won six honors.
Nearly every category in the small market division was won by a public radio station. However, 1040 WHO in Des Moines won the award for best newscast for its noon newscast on Wednesday, December 11th.
The RTDNA Region 5 consists of Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska.
