Joy Reid To Host ‘The Joy Reid Show’ Beginning June 9

“The Joy Reid Show marks an exciting new chapter in my career."

Date:

It’s been three months since Joy Reid signed off from her final episode of The ReidOut on MSNBC. Now, however, she is ready to launch her own platform on digital media. Beginning June 9, Reid will be hosting The Joy Reid Show three days a week, streaming on YouTube and major podcast distributors, according to a report in Variety.

Furthermore, Reid has announced the debut episode will feature comedian Amber Ruffin and former South African ambassador to the United States Ebrahim Rasool, as the program will be emanating from her home in Washington, D.C.

“The Joy Reid Show marks an exciting new chapter in my career,” said Reid to The Hollywood Reporter. “Podcasting has evolved into one of the most respected platforms for storytelling and journalism, and I truly believe I’m stepping into this space at the perfect time.”

Moreover, the former MSNBC host is following the lead of some of her contemporaries, such as former CNN commentator Don Lemon and former NBC News host Chuck Todd. Reid says that the new program will give viewers an unfiltered point of view on the issues being discussed that she deems important.

“This podcast gives me the space to be all of me — smart, skeptical, curious, joyful, and sometimes just plain fired up,” says Reid via email to Variety. “It’s a platform where I can unpack the headlines, sit with brilliant thinkers, challenge power, and also just vibe with the culture. The Joy Reid Show is where real conversations happen — without the limits of traditional TV.”

The ReidOut ended on MSNBC in the weeks following Rebecca Kutler being named the network’s new president. In addition, among the other changes at MSNBC at the time were the cancellation of The Katie Phang Show along with José Díaz-Balart Reports. Both Phang and José Díaz-Balart remained with the network, whereas Reid did not.

Finally, Reid served MSNBC as a national correspondent, political commentator, and host from 2014 till 2024.
