This past weekend, Top 40 95 Triple X in Burlington, VT, temporarily rebranded as Sophie 95-5. The move was to support a St. Albans resident battling ocular melanoma, a rare form of eye cancer.
The station focused on raising funds to help Sophie’s family cover mounting medical expenses while bringing awareness of ocular melanoma.
Kwame Dankwa, Program Director of 95 Triple X, said, “When DJ Vince One (Vince Allo) brought Sophie’s story to our attention, we knew we had to do something meaningful. By becoming Sophie 95-5, even temporarily, we’re putting the full power of our platform behind supporting one of our community members.”
During the weekend, audiences were engaged with Sophie’s story. While gaining insights into ocular melanoma, and exploring various avenues for supporting the fundraising initiative.
“This is about more than just raising money. It’s about showing Sophie and her family that they’re not alone in this fight,” added Mel B., 95 Triple X Midday Host. “Our community is strongest when we come together to support each other.”
