Pablo Torre to Appear on Bill Simmons’ Podcast Amid Reporting Criticism

"Pablo’s numbers are skyrocketing because he’s doing this reporting around this story that people are really hungry for."

Date:

During a recent podcast, Bill Simmons took aim at Pablo Torre surrounding his recent reporting of the situation surrounding University of North Carolina head football coach Bill Belichick and his relationship with Jordon Hudson. Torre has released two episodes of his digital show, Pablo Torre Finds Out, surrounding the matter and unearthed new details about some ambiguous storylines pertaining to the situation. After issuing a reply calling out Simmons and publicly inviting him on an episode of his show, it turns out that Torre will be appearing on Simmons’ podcast.

Within his criticism, Simmons accused Torre of pretending to be a journalist and opined that he has never seen anyone “dine on a stupider story for a week and a half.” Torre has been gaining national attention for his reporting on the matter and appearing across various sports talk shows and podcasts in addition to contributing to MSNBC programming. Dan Le Batard, the co-founder of Meadowlark Media and host of The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz, mentioned how while some people are objecting to the journalism, it is producing tangible results.

“Pablo’s numbers are skyrocketing because he’s doing this reporting around this story that people are really hungry for,” Le Batard said. “But there are also people objecting to it while there’s also widespread curiosity about it, and it’s not being covered in the mainstream in a way that is satisfying to people, so people are going and hunting down Pablo.”

There have been several stories including Torre in recent weeks, including a media feud with FS1 host Nick Wright. After inviting Wright back on his show and not receiving a reply to the invitation, Torre revealed last week that he was banning the personality from his program. Prior to the start of Le Batard’s program amid the ‘Shadow Show,’ producer Billy Gil mentioned how he only had a minor in journalism and assumed that part of the major involved “making yourself the center of every story and debating with your subjects.” The remark resulted in laughter from some of the other members of the show. Le Batard remarked that Torre had feuded with him as well, leading Gil to suggest that he could end it since he is the boss.

“I don’t have anything to do with the checks,” Le Batard said. “You guys keep blaming me for the checks, and I’m not in charge of the money.” Upon Amin Elhassan asking who to blame for the checks, Le Batard replied that it was John Skipper and added that he was “still here” despite recently stepping down as chief executive officer of Meadowlark Media. Over the last several weeks, the company has announced a new contract with DraftKings and the expansion of Nothing Personal while Jon “Stugotz” Weiner has taken his God Bless Football podcast independent.
