In a move that bolsters the sports radio landscape along the Oregon Coast, KORE Broadcasting has officially relaunched KNCU 92.7 FM as FOX Sports Newport, signaling a major pivot from music to all-sports content under its new ownership. Previously operating as Hank FM and known for its country music format, the station was recently sold by longtime broadcaster Dave Miller to KORE Broadcasting, which also owns 1050 AM KORE in Eugene. The new direction places a premium on sports talk—both national and local—with a lineup that includes some of the most recognizable names in the industry.
“We’re excited to bring high-quality sports radio to the Oregon Coast,” said Station Manager Steve Woodward. “KNCU has one of the strongest sports lineups in the entire state. We hope to be your #1 choice for sports on the coast.”
As part of the rebrand, FOX Sports Newport is carrying programming from FOX Sports Radio, including The Dan Patrick Show and The Herd with Colin Cowherd. In addition, the station becomes a new affiliate of The Bald-Faced Truth with John Canzano, giving listeners in Newport and surrounding areas access to one of the most respected local sports voices in the state.
The station is also placing emphasis on homegrown content. A new daily show, Danny and Justin, will air live weekdays from 2–3 p.m., and Friday Night Live will spotlight high school football each fall. On Saturdays during college football season, GameDay Pre & Post Game Shows will round out the local focus.
Live play-by-play is also a key part of the station’s strategy. FOX Sports Newport plans to broadcast Oregon Ducks football and men’s basketball, Los Angeles Chargers football games, and NCAA men’s basketball tournament matchups.

With this rebrand, KORE Broadcasting is making a strong bet on the growing appetite for sports talk radio outside the state’s metro hubs—offering a blend of national star power and local insight that could reshape listening habits in the region.
