WJR 760 has announced the addition of Ryan Ermanni as the new host of its afternoon drive program, JR Afternoon.
The program will be heard from 2-4 PM at the Cumulus Detroit news/talk station. Ermanni will step into the program previously occupied by Chris Renwick.
In a post to social media, Ermanni shared his excitement for the new opportunity.
“I am truly humbled to be associated with those legendary call letters,” Ermanni said. “I can’t wait to contribute to what WJR has meant to generations of listeners while bringing my own voice to the conversation. Excited for this next chapter and grateful for the opportunity to be part of something so iconic.”
“We are thrilled to welcome Ryan Ermanni as a major addition to the WJR lineup,” added Program Director Ann Thomas. “We are confident Ryan will bring fresh energy and compelling conversations to our afternoon programming, while honoring the values and voice that have made WJR a trusted name for generations.”
Ermanni will be a familiar voice to Detroit-area listeners. For the past 22 years, he’s worked at FOX 2 in the city as a morning news anchor. He’ll continue his role with FOX 2, in addition to his work at WJR 760.
Additionally, he has worked as a sports pundit at the Woodward Sports digital outlet in Detroit. However, that position will come to an end as he begins his new afternoon talk show with WJR.
“Ryan Ermanni is not only a seasoned broadcaster with deep roots in Detroit media, he’s also a longtime fan of WJR,” Cumulus Detroit/Ann Arbor Regional Vice President and Market Manager Steve Finateri said. “His passion for Detroit, his engaging on-air presence, and his respect for what WJR represents make him a perfect fit for our team.”
Ermanni will begin hosting ‘JR Afternoon today.
