77 WABC host Curtis Sliwa is currently polling in third place in the New York City mayoral race. Station owner John Catsimatidis says Sliwa’s future with the outlet is up to the Republican nominee.
In an exchange with Gothamist, Catsimatidis was asked if Sliwa would return ot the brand once the election concludes.
“Up to him,” Catsimatidis replied.
The comments from Catsimatidis came after the Sliwa campaign said that he was not on a leave of absence, but had “quit” his position with 77 WABC to run for the top office in the Big Apple.
Additionally, John Catsimatidis stated in an interview with the station’s morning host, Sid Rosenberg, that he believes Sliwa should drop out of the race in an effort to help former governor Andrew Cuomo defeat challenger Zohran Mamdani.
“Look, I love Curtis,” Catsimatidis said. “But Curtis has to realize that he should love New York more than anything else. And it certainly looks like Curtis should pull out right now.”
The New York City mayoral election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 4th.
