AM 1420 The Answer midday host Bob Frantz has announced he has departed the Salem Media Cleveland news/talk station as part of budget cuts.
Frantz had spent the past 11 years working at the station, after previously working as the evening host at crosstown 1100 WTAM.
His show — Always Right Radio with Bob Frantz — aired from 9 AM to Noon.
“Since I understand the nature of online chatter and the breakneck speed of the rumor mill, let me go ahead and confirm it: I hosted my last Cleveland show for WHK today,” Frantz wrote in a post on social media. “I was informed after the show that corporate budget cuts necessitated the use of syndicated programming. At least that’s what I was TOLD.
“The decision was not performance related, and in fact, the company has asked me to continue to guest-host their national programming, which I will do, including Tuesday morning at 6 AM,” Frantz continued. “As for the local show, however, it is now officially over. I intend to start a new live stream program, probably hosted on Rumble, in the very near future. It will be a daily 1-2 hour show, and will feature the same great guests and commentary that we have provided on WHK for the last 11 years.”
Frantz served as a fill-in host on The Chris Stigall Show, the nationally syndicated morning show on the Salem Radio Network.
Meanwhile, AM 1420 The Answer — which also features an FM simulcast on 102.9 — has replaced Frantz with the nationally syndicated Mike Gallagher Show in the daypart.

Time to boycott 1420! With Dennis gone, and Charlie gone and now Bob fired…no longer turning on 1420!! Newsmax will be my go to. Spread this far and wide!
Totally surprised. I live in Cincinnati but go back to my home town of Cleveland and enjoyed listening to Bob Frantz straight forward commentary. In the first week of November I hear the show Strictly Speaking and when I return next I hear someone named Jake Underwood. All of the same commercials are being done by him. Harry Buffalo. Now I hear he has been replaced. I have nothing against Jake Underwood but I miss Bob Frantz and his approach to conservative issues. Hope he returns or can be found on another radio station.

Thanks Bob-listened to your show for years. I, like others, liked the local Cleveland/Ohio political focus that national syndicated shows cannot have. Bob left off focusing attention on the Ohio Property Tax abolition–now it’s up to any of us to spread the word. Nobody else in the media will. They’ll smother the story, or placate us with hopium the same way the State Legislature does. Bob did a great job of exposing the shenanigans they pull down in Columbus–and he is a bulldog in his interviews. I’m sure the snakes were always uneasy if they agreed to come on the show, with their baffle us with…..answers. You could count on Bob to grab them by the tail as they tried to slither away. Thanks again Bob France. I’ll look for you on other mediums.
I feel not a good move for us listeners locally. Bob is a fantastic host. Well researched very informative. Listened every day to Bob due not care for replacement, will not listen anymore. Bob gave us information that one would not hear on local stations. Very disappointed.

This is a bad decision. I will no longer listen to WHK. Hope to find Bob on some other platform. What is wrong with the management of this station. Do they not realize how many of the former audience will lost. Stupid. Very stupid. Thank you Bob. By WHK.

I am disgusted that the best top rated host of your programming was summarily fired. I will no longer listen to your station . We learned so much about local state and national events on his program Glenn Beck wins and 1420 is a
loser. I certainly hope his sponsors follow him out the door.

We are losing a dynamic conservative local voice like Bob and getting a milk toast national talk show host in his place. Bad deal. 1420 has lost me as a listener.

I should’ve wrote this on the 7th, because it feels like we’ve been attacked once again when 1420’s management dropped this bomb on its listeners. Not sure this was a wise move.

I came hear to refresh my memory on who Bob was/is. I heard he’ll be guest hosting during the holidays. I’ve heard him on other shows over the years, and am sorry he met the “budget ax” but, it’s not uncommon for radio personalities to do the shuffle a few times over their Career. He will likely find he’s happier being his own boss, for however long he feels like. Many independent media folks actually do pretty well for themselves. I wish him the best.
