Dr. Ian Smith Launches ‘Black Health Unfiltered’ Podcast

"Health is the ultimate form of wealth, and too many people feel powerless when it comes to their health outcomes."

Date:

Mean Ole Lion Media is making a bold move in the podcast space. The company has launched Black Health Unfiltered, a new series hosted by New York Times bestselling author, physician, and television personality Dr. Ian Smith. It debuts April 2, 2026 — in recognition of Black Health Awareness Month.

The podcast tackles health issues disproportionately affecting Black communities, covering heart disease, diabetes, mental health, medical bias, weight loss, dermatology, and preventive care. Rather than softening tough topics, it digs into the systems shaping health outcomes — including access, history, environment, and inequity.

Dr. Ian brings in leading health experts, advocates, and voices from across the country to deliver clear, practical insights each episode.

“Health is the ultimate form of wealth, and too many people feel powerless when it comes to their health outcomes,” said Dr. Ian Smith. “This podcast is about changing that — by providing real, credible, and actionable information that people can use immediately to improve their lives.”

The show aims to close knowledge gaps, encourage proactive care, and help listeners advocate for themselves inside and outside the healthcare system. It’s designed to inform, empower, and ultimately help save lives.

Black Health Unfiltered is available starting April 2nd. The show is available on all major podcast platforms, and on the Mean Ole Lion Media app.
