What We Know: Widmer joins KDRK as the replacement for Morgan Marie, who left in December for a career outside radio. He previously spent years at Spokane’s KXLY, joining in 2009 and adding music director duties in 2022. He departed KXLY in 2023 to relocate to Lexington, KY. Now he’s back in the 509, stepping into the midday slot at KDRK.
What They Said: Widmer made the announcement himself on social media. He stated: “I’m so stinkin’ excited to be doing middays on New Country 93.7 The Mountain. I am so excited to be back on the radio, it’s going to be so much fun. It is gonna be interesting to get into midday mode. Getting to work with TC again… is going to be great.”
He finished by joking: “When I get back to Spokane to visit, if I can do the show live there again, or visit the building again… the number of things I have hidden in the ceiling tiles there is insane.”
What Remains Unclear: It’s not yet known whether Widmer will take on any additional programming responsibilities at KDRK beyond middays. Furthermore, no details have emerged about whether his podcast, The Sean Widmer Podcast, will continue alongside his new full-time role.
What It Means: This move signals a strong vote of confidence from Stephens in a proven Spokane talent. Widmer brings familiarity, market credibility, and on-air experience to a key daypart. For KDRK, landing someone with deep local roots is a smart, low-risk play. Ultimately, it’s a homecoming that makes sense for everyone involved.
