Scott Jennings isn’t denying speculation that he could replace Karoline Leavitt as White House press secretary. The CNN contributor and Salem Radio Network host was pressed about the possibility Thursday night.
What We Know: Leavitt is set to leave the White House press secretary role at the end of August. President Donald Trump announced her departure Wednesday, saying she plans to spend more time with her young family while remaining a top outside adviser. Several names have since emerged as potential replacements, including Jennings, who has become a prominent conservative voice on CNN and radio. Reports have identified him as one of the leading contenders for the position.

What Remains Unclear: Jennings didn’t confirm whether the White House has contacted him about the position. Likewise, the Trump administration hasn’t announced a successor or identified a clear frontrunner. Other names reportedly under consideration include Alina Habba, Anna Kelly, Stephen Cheung, and others.
What It Means: Jennings’ response certainly didn’t close the door on a move to the White House. In fact, his decision to joke with Collins instead of directly denying the reports could fuel further speculation. For now, however, Jennings remains a CNN contributor and Salem Radio Network host while Trump decides who will take over one of the administration’s most visible communications roles.
