103.1 The Wolf Launches New Morning Show With Peterson and Sergio

Date:

103.1 The Wolf (WWWF) Bay Shore, NY debuts a new morning show Thursday. Cane Peterson and ‘Sabrina From Queens’ Sergio drive the slot.

What We Know Starting September 10, WWWF features Peterson and Sergio in mornings after weekend teases and guest appearances like Scott Shannon’s airshift. Peterson arrives from WWZY Long Branch, where he spent four years in nights and afternoons. His New York market resume includes stints at Alt 92.3, Fresh 102.7, K-Rock, Z100, and VH1, plus multiple Minneapolis stops and SiriusXM channels. Sergio transitions from afternoons at Audacy’s 94.7 HD2 Newark, a role she held since January 2022 while serving as Senior Activation Coordinator for the Audacy New York cluster.

What’s at Stake The Wolf replaces Compass Media Networks’ “Big D & Bubba” syndicated show, betting local talent drives better performance. The station adds “Country with Carsen” from Compass for middays, suggesting a hybrid local-plus-syndication strategy. Program Director Robby Bridges shifts from middays to afternoons while Andrew Blitz maintains night duties. This restructuring tests whether morning-show chemistry outperforms established syndicated alternatives in competitive New York country radio.

What Remains Unclear Peterson and Sergio’s on-air compatibility remains unproven despite their individual experience. The format change’s immediate listener impact will shape the station’s year-end performance metrics. It’s unclear how this shift affects Sergio’s role at Audacy beyond afternoon hosting commitments. Finally, whether Connoisseur Media plans further local investments at WWWF depends on these early results.

What It Means Connoisseur Media prioritizes localized content over full syndication, banking on talent-driven mornings. New York’s country format continues fragmenting across terrestrial and HD2 channels, intensifying competition. The move reflects broader industry confidence in established local personalities. Ultimately, WWWF tests whether known New York voices reconnect listeners to terrestrial country radio.

  1. I’m not happy either. Big D and Bubba and everyone on that show was the best!! I don’t like the new show at all. I actually thought when I listened that they were AI. Terrible.

  2. I am disappointed! I loved having a new country station and the format with Big D and Bubba was funny and great to start my morning on the way to work! I was shocked to turn on the station on my regular morning commute, with no advance notice, and hear a completely different show!

It was already sad when Kelly left…for a better opportunity and good for here! She was so upbeat, fun, and engaging! They should have taken listeners input or few on this! I might jump ship and try to find another country station.

  3. Not happy with the changes at 103.1. I liked Big, D and Bubba! I find the new female‘s voice very annoying. I think country music has a certain type of expectation and the station really had it. I think I might change to iHeartRadio or Spotify. Not something I want to do, but I really liked Carson and everybody at the show before the switch was made. I may give it a week, but then I’m probably jumping ship.

  4. Big D and Bubba were my drive to work everyday starting w the National Anthem.
I waited til today and not impressed. If tomorrow is not better, I return to Sirius XM for my commute.

  5. Why do the white shirts / media execs always have to insert their ignorance and mess up perfectly good stuff? I wasn’t even a country music fan! You just lost me. Moving on.

  6. We miss Big D and Bubba, they were the best. They got me thru very difficult times with their energy, my kids loved them and miss hearing them on the way to school. 10yr old and 6 yr old. Please come back

  7. I don’t like the new morning show, they are annoying. I now have to listen to WBAB on my way to work. I miss Big D & Bubba, bring them back. I miss Kelly Ford as well. Being annoyed in the way to work is not the way I want to start my day.

  8. Very surprised and extremely disappointed by the unannounced and abrupt change in the morning lineup. Please bring back Big D, Bubba and Carson. They had such great chemistry! I loved and miss all the laughs. Do not like the new DJ’s morning show/format. Looks like I may have to jump ship and go back to my previous Country station’s morning show. 😕
