Bill Mick is retiring from 92.7 WMMB after more than 25 years on the Space Coast. The longtime host announced his departure after building a local radio career that began in 1998.
What We Know: Mick began his radio career on the Space Coast in 1998. In 2001, he moved to mornings at WMEL before launching what is now Bill Mick LIVE in 2004. The program airs on 92.7 WMMB, along with 1240 AM and 1350 AM. Throughout his tenure, Mick established himself as a longtime local voice covering news, community issues and conversations with Space Coast leaders.
What They Said: “When I started in radio, I was new to Brevard, but talking with local leaders, newsmakers and our listeners quickly taught me about this community and made it home for me and my family. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who gave me the opportunity to build a career here, and especially to the dedicated audience that has been with me for more than 25 years. The Space Coast is home, and I can’t say thank you enough.” -Bill Mick
“Bill has been a trusted and familiar voice for listeners across the Space Coast for more than 25 years. His commitment to delivering local news, thoughtful conversation and important information to our community has made a lasting impact on 92.7 WMMB and our listeners. We thank Bill for his many years of dedication and wish him all the best in his retirement.” –iHeartMedia Central Florida Market President Judy Copier
What Remains Unclear: Mick hasn’t announced detailed plans for the future. Likewise, 92.7 WMMB hasn’t announced who will replace the longtime host or how the station will handle the programming following his retirement.
What It Means: Mick’s retirement will mark the end of a radio run spanning more than two decades on the Space Coast. Meanwhile, the change gives 92.7 WMMB an opportunity to determine how it will continue its local programming and community-focused coverage.
