Dolly Parton’s Nephew Bryan Seaver Fired as Head of Security

"Dismayed by the unexpected and, so far, unexplained actions"

Date:

Dolly Parton’s nephew, Bryan Seaver, is out as head of security for the late country legend’s properties. The abrupt shake-up is now fueling a growing fight over her estate.

What We Know: Seaver received a termination notice on Wednesday, according to TMZ. The letter dismissed him and his security companies from every Parton property, effective immediately. At the same time, replacement guards arrived at her main home in Nashville. In addition, the new team took over her museum, downtown residence, and warehouse.

What’s at Stake: The letter states that the DP Dean Trust holds Parton’s properties and professional business interests. However, it also notes that Seaver’s personal interest in the trust remains intact. Notably, Parton selected Seaver to publicly announce her death. The country icon died on August 25 at age 80.

What Remains Unclear: So far, no one has publicly explained why Seaver’s team lost its post. Seaver’s camp says it is “dismayed by the unexpected and, so far, unexplained actions” since her death. Specifically, the group is calling out longtime manager Danny Nozell and Pinnacle Bank. It is also unclear how Nozell or the bank will respond.

What It Means: For now, a private family matter is quickly becoming a very public dispute. Seaver’s team vows to “fulfill her final directive to protect her family.” Furthermore, it claims some parties are acting “in bad faith and with the intent to profit” from her life. As a result, the battle over Parton’s legacy appears far from settled.
