Scott Davidson Returns to Sunny 101.7 After iHeartMedia Exit

"The move puts a familiar hometown voice back on Canton radio"

Date:

Scott Davidson is back behind the mic in Northeast Ohio. iHeartMedia has brought back the Canton native after he exited in the company’s June cuts.

What We Know: Davidson has returned as midday host at Classic Hits “Sunny 101.7” WHOF Canton. At the same time, he resumes his weekend shift on “Majic 105.7” WMJI Cleveland. According to the Canton Repository, he opened Monday’s show by telling listeners he was back again. Notably, the return marks his third stint at WHOF.

What’s at Stake: Davidson’s second WHOF run lasted from 2020 until 2026. During that time, he also worked as National Correspondent for iHeart Sports Network. Additionally, he served as Sports Betting Expert for News/Talk 1100 WTAM Cleveland. As a result, iHeart regains a versatile voice with ties to both music and sports programming.

What Remains Unclear: So far, the report does not say whether Davidson’s sports network and WTAM duties will return. Likewise, no one has shared what prompted the reversal just three months after the cuts. For now, his confirmed roles cover Canton middays and Cleveland weekends.

What It Means: Ultimately, the move puts a familiar hometown voice back on Canton radio. Davidson launched his career at WDJQ and WNPQ in the 1980s. From there, he worked at WCLB, WMBX, WOVV, WRMF West Palm Beach, WHYI Miami, and WKDD Akron. He also previously served as PD and morning host when WHOF was AC “My 101.7.”
