Joey Franchize is staying put at Wild 94.1. In fact, the Tampa Bay midday host has signed a contract extension with Beasley Media Group.
What We Know: Franchize will continue as music director and midday host at Wild 94.1. Additionally, he remains a fixture in Tampa’s club scene as a DJ and producer. His career began in college radio in Connecticut. Previously, he served as the official DJ for UConn Huskies football and basketball.
What They Said: Joey Franchize (via Instagram): “Happy to keep growing with Wild 94.1 and Beasley Media Group as Music Director and the voice of mid-days! Grateful for the opportunity to keep bringing my passion for music, culture, and our community to the airwaves. Tampa Bay, thank you for rocking with me. Let’s keep building!”
What Remains Unclear: However, neither Franchize nor Beasley disclosed the length of the new deal. Beasley also did not share financial terms or any additional roles that Franchize may be tasked with.
What It Means: Ultimately, the extension keeps a recognizable local voice in a key daypart. Moreover, Franchize brings credibility that extends well beyond the studio. He has worked with and opened for artists such as Wiz Khalifa, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole and Big Sean. As a result, Wild 94.1 keeps a host who lives by his own motto: “Music is every man’s redemption; I strive to epitomize music.”
