After much criticism for their response to the appearance of Ben Shapiro at their conference, Podcast Movement has apologized to the co-founder of The Daily Wire for their reaction.
“As we stated, we’re continuing to evaluate our policies guiding social media and events with inclusivity, diversity & respect for all,” said Podcast Movement President Dan Franks. “We have to start by sincerely apologizing to Mr. Shapiro for our reaction when he visited a booth we sold his company. That wasn’t right. We are now looking to move forward, as we focus on that original mission from 2014 – being a hub for podcasting events, resources, news, and thought leadership.”
Podcast Movement’s apology comes after Cumulus — who handles advertising responsibilities for The Daily Wire — announced they would pull all future sponsorship of the conference.
Shapiro appeared at Podcast Movement’s conference in Dallas in August. The Daily Wire had a booth in the event’s expo center, where Shaprio met briefly with fans before leaving. Podcast Movement then apologized to attendees for Shapiro’s “presence” at the event.
