Larry Hansgen Celebrates 43 Years at WHIO Radio in Dayton

WHIO Radio morning host Larry Hansgen has reason to celebrate, as he recently commemorated his 43rd year with the Dayton news/talk station.

After originally joining the station in 1981 as an overnight board operator, Hansgen ascended at the station, quickly becoming the Sports Director before ultimately being named the host of Miami Valley’s Morning News in 2003, a position he still holds.

“Today I celebrate 43 years at WHIO Radio,” Hansgen wrote in a social media post Saturday. “I have been blessed beyond words for the life I have. Amazing coworkers, listeners and being part of the Dayton community. Already looking forward to the next 43!”

In addition to his role as host of Miami Valley’s Morning News on WHIO, Larry Hansgen also serves as the radio play-by-play voice of the University of Dayton Flyers football and men’s basketball teams. He has also previously moonlighted as a stand-up comedian.
