After promising to “retire on the spot” if the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Philadelphia Phillies in back-to-back games, Chris “Mad Dog” Russo skipped the first segment of his show Wednesday.
Steve Torre hosted the first portion of Mad Dog Unleased on Mad Dog Sports Radio Wednesday, and introduced the second segment before Russo busted into the studio.
“I have returned! I’m here! I didn’t go anywhere! Retire, my ass! I’m here to do a talk show!”, Russo shouted. “By the way, after 12 minutes with (Torre), thank God I’m here to do a talk show!”
Torre began the show by saying “It’s an honor to be part of the conversation. What can I tell you? If you’re looking for Dog, what can I tell you? This is not schtick. He’s not here. So, this threat of retirement, sort of has taken on a life of it’s own.”
Russo was widely panned by many in the industry first for his declaration, but then his insistence that he was not committing to retiring from his TV shows, just his radio program on SiriusXM.
