Fox News Sees Highest TV Audience in Trump Assassination Aftermath

Nearly every network jumped into breaking news coverage after former President Donald Trump was shot at a Pennsylvania rally Saturday. Fox News saw the highest ratings of any network in the aftermath of the event.

More than 6.5 million viewers watched as the coverage unfolded Saturday evening. That figure led not just cable television, but network television as well. Coverage peaked during the 8 PM ET hour with more than 7 million viewers. That hour — which was anchored by Bill Hemmer and Shannon Bream — included President Biden giving his first remarks on the incident.

The next closest competition was ABC News, which saw more than 3 million during its special reporting. On the cable news front, an additional 2.45 million watched CNN during the 8-11 PM ET timeframe.

Fox News also led coverage of the President’s address from the Oval Office Sunday evening. 5.3 million watched on the network as President Biden called for unity from both sides of the political aisle in the wake of the assassination attempt.
