Pittsburgh Penguins Name Joe Brand Radio Play-by-Play Broadcaster

The Pittsburgh Penguins announced Joe Brand will be their new radio play-by-play voice on the Penguins Radio Network. Brand will call all Penguins regular-season and playoff games and will be primarily joined in the booth by long-time color analyst and two-time Stanley Cup Champion Phil Bourque. It was also announced that Paul Steigerwald will return as pre- and post-game host.

“We are excited to welcome Joe Brand to the Penguins family and introduce him to the best fans in hockey,” said Penguins President of Business Operations Kevin Acklin in a release. “The Penguins have been fortunate to have some of the best voices to ever call the game sit in that chair, and we look forward to Joe making his own mark here in Pittsburgh.”

Brand posted on his X account, “A once in a lifetime opportunity with a signature franchise and an ultra-passionate fan base that I’m honored to now be a part of. Thank you, Penguins. I cannot wait to get to Pittsburgh.”

Brand, 33, spent the last three seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks as their studio host and fill-in play-by-play broadcaster on WGN Radio 720 AM. Brand hosted pre-game, intermission and post-game shows and also hosted ‘Blackhawks Live’ a weekly radio show.

Brand called play-by-play for Blackhawks preseason and select regular-season games as recently as last season, filling in for John Wiedeman. He also has experience calling baseball, football and basketball, including having called Chicago White Sox games on ESPN 1000.
