President Donald Trump will sit down with Fox News anchor Bret Baier for an interview to air during the Super Bowl LIX Pregame Show on Sunday, the network has announced.
The President recording an extended interview with a journalist from the network broadcasting the game has become something of a tradition in recent years.
However, Joe Biden did not do an interview the past two years when CBS and FOX had the Super Bowl rights, respectively. Similarly, Donald Trump did not sit down for an interview with NBC News in 2018. He did hold discussions with Fox News‘ Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, and CBS News’ Margaret Brennan during his first term.
The first presidential interview during the Super Bowl pregame show began in earnest in 2009 when NBC News anchor Matt Lauer interviewed then-President Barack Obama weeks into his first term.
Fox News has shared that the pre-taped interview will take place at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home, with portions of the conversation being aired on Special Report with Bret Baier on Monday, February 10th.
Super Bowl LIX pregame coverage on the FOX broadcast network will begin at 1 PM ET on Sunday, February 9th.
