Ken LaVicka has signed a new contract with ESPN Radio under which he will return to the national radio network this July in a utility role. LaVicka, who formerly worked for ESPN West Palm over 17 years, has been serving as the English-language radio play-by-play announcer for Inter Miami CF throughout the season. In addition, he has filled in on ESPN Radio programming in the past, including Carlin vs. Joe in middays last August, and also calls live game broadcasts for Florida Atlantic University football and basketball.
“Showed the front office enough on my rookie deal to get my second contract,” LaVicka posted on his X account this Friday morning. “it’s done. i have re-upped w/ @ESPNRadio. signed and locked in. excited to be back on the national radio airwaves in July!”
LaVicka previously paired with Theo Dorsey and Stone Labanowitz in middays for three years on ESPN West Palm before his tenure with the station came to a conclusion. In a previous interview with Barrett Media, LaVicka described the transaction as “a corporate decision” that was “definitely not mutual.” Inter Miami CF live game broadcasts air live on ESPN West Palm and the Spanish-language broadcasts are on Deportes Radio 760AM, both of which are owned by Good Karma Brands.
Beyond his commentary work, LaVicka has also participated in episodes of By All Accounts, a show he started on YouTube alongside former WQAM digital content producer Zach Krantz. Furthermore, he has delivered play-by-play calls for USL games airing on Yahoo, Paramount, ESPN+ and Twitch working remotely for VISTA Worldlink. LaVicka is a graduate of Valparaiso University where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in sports broadcasting and new media journalism.
