Last week, Megyn Kelly announced a tour of live events all across the nation, which included Charlie Kirk appearing as a guest. She says in the wake of his murder, she’ll still be on the stage at each of those appearances.
During The Megyn Kelly Show, Kelly noted that there had been questions both internally from her team and externally about whether or not she would or should continue the tour as planned after Kirk was assassinated on the campus of Utah Valley University.
She came to the conclusion that the show must go on.
“I’ve heard everyone’s concerns,” said Kelly. “And I’ve been well aware of the challenges that now face us in doing this. All I can tell you is there is no f—ing way I am canceling one stop on this tour. Not one stop. It’s not that I don’t have some concerns. Of course I do. I’m human. I, as you know, have been covering the news very closely, but there is no f—ing way we’re not doing this tour,” she reiterated.
Kelly continued by noting that she has traditionally not been as open to making live appearances as Charlie Kirk was, but believes the best way to honor his memory is by continuing the conversations he would have held.
“I’m more of a private person,” she shared. “I know it’s odd, because I have a public job, but I just am more of a private person, and most of my spare time is spent with my family.”
“It’s more important now than ever,” Kelly later added of her decision to continue with her tour. “I said to my team ‘At this point, I don’t care if every single guest cancels on me. I don’t care if there are two people in the audience as we go from city to city. I’m going to stand on these stages, and I’m going to say all the things that we say all the time on this show, and I will speak to those two people from the heart and be forever grateful to them for showing up.’ There is no other way forward. We can make this safe for me. We can make it safe for you and for our guests. And we absolutely have to keep talking. We absolutely have to keep this discussion going. To cower, to hide, to go silent is not the answer.”
