One of Michigan’s most decorated sports broadcasters is going independent. Brad Galli has launched The Brad Galli Show, a digital-first platform delivering exclusive interviews and original sports storytelling.
What We Know: Galli spent more than 15 years at Detroit’s WXYZ-TV, rising to Sports Director after starting as an intern in 2009. He’s a three-time Michigan Sportscaster of the Year and a multiple Emmy Award winner. He also claimed the Michigan Association of Broadcasters’ Best Sportscast honor in both 2024 and 2025. Three debut episodes are already live on YouTube, featuring Barry Sanders, Jahmyr Gibbs, Dusty May, Alan Trammell, and Lou Whitaker. Galli left WXYZ-TV just a month ago.
What They Said: Brad Galli: “I am excited to take fans closer to the action, consistently providing content that gets people up close with their favorite players, coaches, and prominent figures in the state of Michigan and beyond. We’re going to be meeting fans on digital media platforms that allows us to provide a greater opportunity to deliver more access, more conversations, and more storytelling than ever before.”
What Remains Unclear: An offiical schedule of when content will be available is unclear. Also, Galli has not revealed if he plans to expand outside of Michigan sports into more of a national outlet.
What It Means: The move for Galli is a bold one. Saying goodbye to 15 years of legacy for a startup in the digtial realm on your own terms is something that contains risk. He’s built a strong foothold in the Detroit market. It will be interesting to see if this is for the long term. Or to keep his skillset sharp for another opportunity down the line.
