Tampa Bay Buccaneers Name Tony Castricone As New Radio Play-By-Play Voice

"My family and I cannot wait to be Buccaneers, to be Floridians and to meet as many members of the Krewe as possible."

Date:

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a new radio voice. The team named Tony Castricone its new play-by-play announcer and team insider following the retirement of Gene Deckerhoff after last season.

What We Know: Castricone succeeds Gene Deckerhoff, who retired after the 2025 season following nearly four decades. He brings more than two decades of experience, including nine years as Washington’s Director of Broadcasting. There, he handled football and men’s basketball play-by-play; earlier, he voiced Clemson basketball and spent seven-plus years at IMG Academy. On gamedays, he pairs with Dave Moore, a color analyst for 18 seasons.

What They Said: Buccaneers Chief Operating Officer Brian Ford: “Following a comprehensive nationwide search, we are thrilled to welcome Tony to the Buccaneers. Tony distinguished himself through his professionalism, preparation, passion and ability to connect with audiences. He understands the responsibility that comes with this role and possesses the talent and authenticity to build meaningful relationships with Buccaneers fans for years to come.”

Tony Castricone: “It’s the honor of a lifetime to be entrusted with this extremely rare opportunity and this one-of-a-kind role within this fantastic franchise. I’d like to thank the Glazer family and everyone I met with during the interview process for their confidence in my abilities and for allowing me to live out this dream. I’d also like to congratulate Gene Deckerhoff on an iconic 37-year run. There will never be another Gene, and I’ll miss hearing his larger-than-life voice on gamedays. The thought of following in his legendary footsteps is humbling and exhilarating. My family and I cannot wait to be Buccaneers, to be Floridians and to meet as many members of the Krewe as possible.”

What Remains Unclear: The team did not specify how he’ll be used in team coverage outside of game day broadcasts. The release also didn’t specify if TJ Rives will be returning as the team’s sideline reporter.

What It Means: Castricone will be the first new voice of the Buccaneers since 1989. For Casticone, it’s not new territory for him. He was hired by Washington following the retirement of Bob Rondeau. Who had been the voice of the Huskies for 37 years. Tampa Bay closes a lengthy search with a proven successor. Consequently, fans gain continuity as the franchise chases a third Super Bowl. Ultimately, a new era of Buccaneers radio begins.
