Tee Gentry has retired from full-time duties after 30 years with Beasley Media Group. The Augusta radio veteran’s final day was July 31st.
What We Know Gentry served as Operations Manager for the Beasley Augusta cluster. Additionally, he was Program Director and on-air talent for Kicks 99 (WKXC-FM). During his tenure, he shaped programming and developed talent across multiple markets. Meanwhile, Chris O’Kelley now serves as interim Program Director while Cody takes afternoon drive duties.
What they said AJ Lurie, Vice President and Market Manager of Beasley Augusta, praised Gentry’s impact extensively. According to Lurie, “Tee Gentry’s commitment to Beasley Media Group, our stations and the communities he has served over the past 30 years has been nothing short of exceptional.” Lurie added that Gentry’s leadership and passion for country radio shaped station success. Furthermore, his dedication to mentoring talent left lasting impact on listeners and staff alike.
What Remains Unclear The company hasn’t announced a permanent Program Director replacement yet. Details about the timeline remain unknown at this point. Additionally, specifics on Gentry’s consulting scope aren’t fully defined. Questions linger about the long-term station direction going forward.
What It Means This move highlights radio’s generational transition underway. Importantly, Beasley’s decision to retain Gentry as consultant shows respect for institutional knowledge. Furthermore, it signals the company values continuity during critical leadership shifts. Ultimately, the industry continues losing veteran talent to retirement waves.
