Audacy has promoted Alejandro Solana to assistant brand manager of Miami’s 104.3 WQAM. The longtime producer and afternoon co-host announced the news on social media.
What We Know: Notably, Solana has built his career inside WQAM’s walls. Before this move, he served as executive producer of The Hochman and Crowder Show and the Miami Dolphins Radio Network. In 2022, he also added Miami Heat pregame and postgame hosting duties on 560 WQAM. Today, he co-hosts afternoon drive alongside Marc Hochman and Channing Crowder on Hochman, Crowder & Solana. His elevation follows the retirement of brand manager Len Weiner, who stepped away at the end of August.
What They Said: Alejandro Solana (via X): “Exciting career update: Thrilled to announce that I’ve accepted the position of Assistant Brand Manager at 104.3 WQAM. WQAM is a pillar of the South Florida sports community, with a legacy I deeply admire and respect. It’s an honor to be part of what comes next!”
What Remains Unclear: However, Audacy has not detailed Solana’s new day-to-day responsibilities. Additionally, it remains unclear whether he will keep his afternoon on-air role with the promotion. Whether or not Solana will be further elevated to fully replace Weiner as the station’s brand manager is also unknown.
What It Means: Ultimately, the promotion rewards a homegrown voice who knows the brand from the inside. Moreover, it arrives as WQAM builds its audience on the 100,000-watt FM signal it launched last year. Solana’s mix of producing and hosting experience could help shape that next chapter of the station. As a result, WQAM is betting on familiarity during a period of change.
