FOX Sports 920 is reshuffling its weekday lineup in Milwaukee. Starting Monday, The Huddle moves from morning drive to afternoons.
What We Know: Beginning October 12, Drew Olson, Billy Schmid and Armen Saryan will host from 2-5 p.m. on WOKY. The show also continues to air on iHeartMedia’s Madison sports station, 1070 The Game. Meanwhile, WOKY adds 2 Pros and a Cup of Joe with LaVar Arrington, Brady Quinn and Jonas Knox in morning drive.
What’s At Stake: According to the release, the shift in the lineup was due to coverage of the Green Bay Packers games during the season. Instead of working potential late nights with a quick turnaround for mornings, the shift was made to accomidate scheduleing.
What Remains Unclear: Whether or not the station will add a local presence in mornings is unknown. In January, iHeartMedia shut its statewide “The Game” network and launched The Huddle in mornings. Since then, FOX Sports Radio’s national lineup has filled WOKY’s remaining hours.
What It Means: Ultimately, the move gives the station’s local voices a higher-profile afternoon slot. Furthermore, it aligns the hosts’ schedule with Packers coverage, a top priority for any Wisconsin sports station. Whether or not the shift will last past the football season remains to be seen, as well if iHeart will invest more resources in a once successful sports footprint in the market.
