104.5 The Zone in Nashville has reportedly parted ways with Blaine Bishop, according to a report by Paul Kuharsky. As a result, the former Titans standout no longer co-hosts Cover Two middays on the radio station.
What We Know: Bishop co-hosted Cover Two with Zach Lyons weekdays from 1-3 p.m. He joined the station in January 2010 as part of 3HL. Additionally, he worked on the Titans’ pre- and postgame shows for the team’s flagship station. His final Cover Two appearance was last Thursday. Station management has not responded to Barrett Media for comment.
What’s At Stake: Bishop is a long standing fixture on the Nashville sports radio outlet. The program has been regularly recognized by the Barrett Media Top 20 midday show rankings. Bishop’s departure is first departure from the weekday lineup since Kayla Anderson in May of last year, while the station has extended both Ramon Foster and Ron Slay.
What Remains Unclear: Bishop nor the station has not commented on the reporting. Notably, The Zone removed Bishop’s photo with Lyons from the Cover Two page.
What It Means: Bishop’s exit ends a 16-year run with one of Nashville’s top sports stations. Moreover, he brought 10 NFL seasons, nine with the Oilers/Titans and one with Philadelphia, plus four Pro Bowls. Whether or not the station will replace Bishop is still unknown, but the impact might be felt from a talent who the listening audience grew to know for over 15 years.
