Warner Records Nashville Makes Staff Cuts Across Key Department

Date:

Warner Records Nashville layoffs have affected several executives and radio promotion professionals. The staff reductions come as parent company Warner Music Group continues a broader cost-cutting initiative.

What We Know: According to Country Aircheck, the November 3 departures include EVP of Marketing Torie Mason, SVP of Publicity Fount Lynch, VP of Radio Anna Cage, West Coast WAR (Warner Artist Relations) Manager Jenna Johnson and West Coast WRN (Warner Records Nashville) Manager Kayla Burnett. Mason joined the label in 2011, followed by Cage in 2014, Johnson in 2019, Burnett in 2020 and Lynch in 2022. In July 2025, Warner Music Group CEO Robert Kyncl outlined plans to reduce annual expenses by $300 million. Of that amount, $170 million would come from workforce reductions. Moreover, Warner expects to finish restructuring by late 2026 and reach its full annual savings target by fiscal 2027. However, the label hasn’t confirmed whether the Nashville departures are connected to that plan.

What Remains Unclear: The label hasn’t disclosed the full extent of the layoffs or confirmed their connection to Warner Music Group’s restructuring. Additionally, the label hasn’t explained whether it will replace departing personnel or redistribute responsibilities across marketing, publicity and radio promotion.

What It Means: Warner Records Nashville’s cuts reflect a broader industry shift toward smaller teams and more streamlined operations. Similar reductions at Sony Music Nashville and Universal Music Group suggest major labels are reconsidering how they allocate resources. Meanwhile, they must continue securing radio airplay, generating media coverage and supporting new releases. For country radio, losing experienced promotion professionals could reshape relationships between labels and stations. Ultimately, the question is whether labels can maintain their promotional reach and artist development efforts with smaller teams.
