ESPN Announces 2027 College Gymnastics Broadcast Schedule

"The 2027 lineup includes high-profile matchups, conference championships and national title events."

Date:

ESPN is bringing another season of college gymnastics to its television and streaming platforms. The 2027 lineup includes high-profile matchups, conference championships and national title events.

What We Know: ESPN will carry its 2027 college gymnastics coverage across its family of networks and streaming platforms. This includes ABC and ESPN+. The schedule primarily focuses on women’s gymnastics, featuring 17 of last season’s top 25 programs, and nine of the top 10. Coverage begins January 9–10 with the Collegiate Quad, featuring eight leading women’s gymnastics programs, including Oklahoma and LSU, across ABC and ESPN.

Additionally, ESPN2 will televise seven Friday night meets, while SEC Network will feature 18 conference matchups through its Friday Night Heights series. ACC Network will carry another six meets. Meanwhile, ESPN+ will stream women’s NCAA regionals and men’s national qualifiers, while conference championships will air across multiple platforms. ABC will carry the women’s national championship April 17 for the seventh straight year. ESPN2 will also televise the women’s semifinals and men’s national championship. Moreover, the network’s expanded coverage follows growing interest. The 2026 national championship averaged a record 1.1 million viewers on ABC, up 10% from 2025.

What Remains Unclear: ESPN hasn’t announced its broadcast talent assignments for the 2027 gymnastics season. The network also hasn’t released audience projections for its upcoming coverage.

What It Means: ESPN’s continued investment in college gymnastics comes as the sport attracts larger television audiences. Strong championship ratings and interest in marquee competitions demonstrate its growing appeal beyond traditional fans. By combining national broadcasts with extensive streaming coverage, ESPN can capitalize on that momentum while reaching new audiences, including students and alumni. Furthermore, keeping the women’s national championship on ABC reinforces the sport’s value as a television property. Continued growth could boost advertising opportunities and encourage networks to showcase other collegiate sports.
