1040 WHO Adds Kelly Nash’s ‘NASHional Briefing’ to Daily Lineup

The move follows a controversy involving Henson that kept him off the air for approximately a month.

Date:

1040 WHO is adding The NASHional Briefing to its daily lineup. Kelly Nash’s program will air from 9-11 AM on the iHeartMedia station.

What We Know: The NASHional Briefing will replace The Gregg Henson Show on the Des Moines news/talk station. Nash is based at 560 WVOC in Columbia, South Carolina, where he hosts morning drive as part of South Carolina’s Morning News. He also hosts the program on 94.3 WSC in Charleston. Originally, The NASHional Briefing began as a daily 10-minute podcast. Now, the program will have a two-hour broadcast window on 1040 WHO.

What’s at Stake: The addition gives Nash another opportunity to expand his national presence while providing 1040 WHO with new programming. Meanwhile, the move follows a controversy involving Henson that kept him off the air for approximately a month. In early October, Henson drew criticism after calling the reported victim in the Cornell rape case a “lying slut” and making additional insulting remarks during his program.

What Remains Unclear: It hasn’t been announced whether The NASHional Briefing will maintain its original format or expand its content to fill the two-hour window. Additionally, there’s been no further clarification regarding Henson’s departure or his future with the station.

What It Means: For 1040 WHO, the move marks a programming change following the controversy surrounding Henson’s comments. Additionally, it gives Nash a larger platform beyond his South Carolina audience. The transition also turns a short-form podcast into a two-hour daily radio program.
